Can I still see my usual GP?
Yes. However, this depends on the GP service and if they are still willing to visit.
What qualifications and training do staff have?
All of our staff are NVQ qualified and are required to complete the Care Certificate. Annual mandatory training is in place for our team and this covers all aspects of care and health and safety. Some of our care team have NVQ’s in Health and Social Care and others are registered nurses who hold a nursing qualification and are on the NMC register.
How is pain managed in palliative care?
Our palliative care home nurses manage symptoms/pain and liaise directly with the GP and hospice at home team.
How is family involved in care decisions?
There is a resident of the day system in place, ensuring all families have regular updates from the Manager or Deputy, and care team. Families are encouraged to participate in the pre-admission assessment so person centred information can be fully captured.
How often can my family visit?
There are no restrictions on visiting at either service, visiting remains ‘open’ unless there is an outbreak in one of the homes.
What happens if I / my loved one needs a higher level of care?
A monthly review of care needs is completed by the nursing/senior and management teams and if a higher level of care is required this will be discussed directly with the family or representative, if in a residential setting and nursing is required there is a potential to transfer to one of our nursing homes.
How much will I be charged for palliative care service?
The weekly rates for palliative services match our existing long-term residential pricing.
