A Fun-Filled Mario vs Luigi Sports Day at Manor Barn
Mario and Luigi went head-to-head at Manor Barn Care Home recently as residents and team members took part in their very own themed Sports Day.
The colourful event saw residents and team members split into teams and embrace the friendly rivalry, taking part in a variety of activities including beanbag shot put, tabletop curling, newspaper dash and wheelchair egg-and-spoon races.

With points up for grabs, there was plenty of friendly rivalry between the two sides. Residents cheered on their teammates from the sidelines and got behind each other as they worked their way through the events.

Then it was the Manor Barn team’s turn to show what they could do.
Team members paired up for a three-legged race before taking their places for a tug of war. Their competitive sides soon came out, giving residents and families plenty to laugh about as they watched from the sidelines.

The Sports Day was planned so residents with different levels of mobility could get involved. Some of the games could be played while seated, so residents could still compete for their team and enjoy being part of the action.
A spokesperson for Manor Barn Care Home said:
“It was such a lovely afternoon and wonderful to see everyone getting involved. There was lots of laughter, encouragement and friendly competition throughout the day. Our residents really embraced the Mario vs Luigi theme – and the team certainly showed their competitive side too”
Manor Barn regularly introduces new themes into its activities calendar, giving residents the chance to try something different while making sure everyone who wants to join in can do so.

Mario vs Luigi certainly brought out a few competitive streaks! And after such a successful Sports Day, the team will have their work cut out for them deciding on next year’s theme.
