What is Palliative Care?

Collaborative care planning
Palliative care begins with our palliative care home team communicating continually with you and your family to create an adaptable care plan aligned with evolving priorities. We want families to realise that their voices guide this journey, and our role is to provide responsive and flexible support at every twist and turn ahead.
Discomfort relief
Our primary focus is to manage the symptoms throughout the palliative care period to make your loved ones as comfortable as possible. This type of palliative care focuses on keeping the patient relaxed so they can enjoy a better quality of life.
Emotional assistance
We walk with families on their emotional journey, supporting residents and family members to cope with the challenges they may be facing. Whether holding space for anger and grief to find healthy release or providing literature detailing support avenues, our palliative care home team remains here for everyone.
Spiritual nurturing
Spiritual care assists individuals in discovering meaning within their illness and reestablishing connections with aspects of life that hold significance for them. This includes delving into the patient’s religious beliefs and values and answering the difficult questions that come with this realisation.
What does palliative care aim to achieve?
Our palliative care home specialises in comfort-focused support for those facing serious illness. Our nursing home with palliative care aims to improve a resident’s quality of life by managing symptoms and addressing physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical. In essence, our palliative care provides relief during an intensely challenging chapter of life. Guidance helps navigate complex decisions when pathways seem unclear.
What is the duration of palliative support?
Based on the resident’s situation and needs, palliative care can be provided over a flexible time frame. The duration of palliative services ranges from weeks to months to more extended periods, depending on how long the patient desires support or until their condition stabilises. It is customised care tailored to address each individual’s specific priorities, especially in a palliative care home. The critical aspect is that care is adapted over time to align with their evolving condition.
